  • General Description of Role

    Coordinates and executes the day to day operational functions of the company while providing “best in class” customer service.

    Specific Accountabilities

    • Accurately respond to customer requests to book shipments while providing the best possible solution within a timely manner, and ensuring that minimum target margins are maintained or exceeded.
    • Responsible for the booking and tracking of shipments till final delivery.
    • Responsible for meeting deadlines either set by management or as agreed upon with a client.
    • Responsible for accurately/proactively entering data into the operating system.
    • Interact with carriers on a daily basis including negotiating pricing & problem solving.
    • Dealing and effectively handling difficult situations with customers or vendors while seeking support if necessary of the Manager of Customer Solutions.
    • Responsible for learning and following processes and procedures in place for individual customers. Actively seeks this information if not readily available.
    • Responsible for accurately filling out and submitting folders for billing once completed. This includes ensuring the file folders match the Benchmark operating system as accurately as possible.
    • Responsible for adhering to PIP procedures to ensure the overall security of freight and facility.
    • Assist with warehouse functions when required including possible operation of forklift, heavy lifting, etc.
    • Participates in an after hours “On call” rotation providing 24/7 support to customers.
    • Responsible for completing any other responsibilities as delegated to them by senior management.
    • Must ensure that all clients and vendors are treated with honesty, integrity and respect.

    Required skills

    • Must be able to operate in a fast pace environment
    • Must be able to multitask
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office an asset
    • Attention to detail required
    • Ability to speak/write french is an asset

    The successful candidate must obtain a police background check prior to start of employment.

  • Benchmark Trade Solutions is a fast growing 3PL currently specializing Dry Van/ Reefer/ Specialized equipment between/within Canada, USA and Mexico in both LTL and FTL capacities.

    General Description of Role

    Responsible for all pricing functions within the organization including spot quotes and freight management programs.

    Specific Accountabilities

    • Responsible to source and complete all spot quotes as required while ensuring profits are maximized and minimum targets are obtained
    • Responsible for sourcing, creating and executing freight management programs.
    • Responsible to complete any RFP’s as required.
    • Responsible for actively quoting new and current business. Expected to source best available options to allow for securement of business.
    • Plays a crucial role in securing new business and maintaining current business.
    • Interacts & develops relationships with vendor carrier partners.
    • Reviews current accounts when required including making carrier changes, completing profitability studies and other general updates.
    • Responsible for meeting deadlines either set by management or as agreed upon with a client.
    • Responsible for accurately/proactively entering data into the operating system for use by the pricing & solutions team.
    • Responsible for ensuring processes and procedures in place for individual customers are being followed and that any changes are updated accordingly.
    • Responsible for adhering to PIP procedures to ensure the overall security of freight and facility.
    • Participates in an after hours “On call” rotation providing 24/7 support to customers (if required)
    • Responsible for completing any other responsibilities as delegated to them by senior management.
    • Provides support to the operations team when required during busy periods.
    • Must ensure that all clients and vendors are treated with honesty, integrity and respect

    Skills Required

    • Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft office required.
    • General transportation knowledge an asset.
    • Knowledge of CWT rating, Cube rating, US class system an asset
    • Carrier base/ knowledge for Canada/USA/Mexico an asset.
    • Must have the ability to multitask while working in a fast pace environment
    • Attention to detail required
    • Willing to train the right candidate
